Our hosts went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and amazing. The Studio is quaint and overlooks the mountains. The stars at night are beautiful. It is peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of Clarens, but close enough that it’s just a short drive if you feel like heading into the town. Their two cats are friendly and if you’re lucky will come with you on a walk through the fields.

Heated floors and bedding, the view was amazing!! Johan and Tim even went the extra mile to make a booking for us at an amazing restaurant!

We definitely recommend Jovali Clarens if you like to stay out of Clarens’ hustle and bustle. We enjoyed our stayed tremendously. Very relaxing.

I booked very late on Thursday afternoon. Could not get hold of the venue on the phone number provided on Booking.com. We decided to just drive and see if we could get a decent place to sleep for the night. How great was our surprise when we were phoned when driving onto the driveway of Jovali Clarens. Even better was the jovial reception by the owners. We were greeted with big smiles and freshly baked rusks and cookies. The smell of freshly baked goods were to die for. The owners went out of their way to make the children and myself feel welcome. This was lockdown level 4. Not many places where one could eat in a small town. However they arranged and made bookings for dinner as well. It was a very cold night and the room was beautifully decorated with underfloor heating on and electric blankets turned on. I will definitely recommend Jovali Clarens when staying in Clarens.

Neat and tidy, very clean and simply wonderful! Our time spent at Jovali Clarens was carefree, with the natural surroundings being simply breathtaking. The Studio was pristine and we simply cannot wait to return again soon.

Johan was the most gracious host. The beautiful mountains envelop you in awe. The Studio is comfortably heated, cosy, super clean and careful thought and attention paid to décor and detail. You can easily stay for a night or a week. Even the tiny dirt road leading to Jovali Clarens is part of the magic.

We had a pleasant stay at Jovali Clarens. Johan is an excellent host. The Studio was well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend staying at Jovali Clarens.

The Studios where very well maintained and it was nice that they were isolated from the main house. The extra little touches made it an awesome experience. The walks down to the river were very nice.

Everything was exceptional, our hosts Johan and Tim made sure we had everything we needed and more. The accommodation was perfect and so was the location.

Our Studio was very clean, tidy and perfectly equipped with everything you may need. The views and walking trails are stunning. Johan and Tim are extremely welcoming and helpful, and even assisted us with restaurant bookings and activity recommendations in the area.

We had a lovely stay at Jovali Clarens and received a warm welcome from Johan. Beautiful view of the mountains from the tastefully furnished and decorated Studio. Very close to Clarens itself, but still far enough to enjoy the peacefulness of the area. Will recommend Jovali Clarens anytime!

We had a fantastic stay at Jovali Clarens. Johan went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed and even went as far as confirming dinner reservations for us that we had made. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful and the detail was much appreciated – including the small yellow duck! We were so impressed with the attention to detail. Proper COVID protocol, all chairs had blankets on them for the cold, lovely coffee maker plus kettle, etc., as well as a lovely welcome letter. It also has a fully equipped kitchen with a great gas stove, and also a heater in the bathroom. A really awesome spot 5 minutes out of town.

The property is very clean and has all the nice utilities provided for to make one’s stay comfortable. The place has been recently built or renovated with nice finishes. Water was nicely hot throughout our stay, which is important as Clarens can be a bit cold. One can take a nice walk to the nearby stream. The hosts were very friendly and did a good job in attending to our queries / requests. I would visit Jovali Clarens again and I highly recommend it to other travellers.

Excellent venue. Attention to detail was outstanding, and all the little extras such as rusks, coffee pods, charcoal, etc. was a real treat. Accommodation was beautifully furnished, and the location was peaceful and stunning.

The peace, view and quietness. The tranquillity….just being away from the busy life of the city. Johan also knows exactly how to welcome guests and make them feel at home. I will go back any day… I liked everything about the place, the coffee and the freshly baked rusks make the mornings the best, while sitting outside and feeding the birds and looking at the sunrise.

Beautifully appointed rooms, wonderful hosts, gorgeous views. Quiet and peaceful, so many thoughtful touches in the rooms, comfy beds, fantastic room facilities – love the coffee and the little Clarens-type décor items found in town.

Jovali Clarens is by far one of the most beautiful properties we have stayed at, pictures do not capture the beauty that this accommodation is surrounded in. Our stay was nothing short of perfect, from the beautifully kept, sparkling clean room, to the view, to Johan’s incredible hospitality. The gardens are immaculate and the rooms beautifully decorated. We have made a point to come back annually!

If you are looking for a quiet space for refreshing your mind, Jovali Clarens is definitely the place to go to. Johan and Tim were very helpful with everything including what activities can be done there. Everything you need is provided for in the studio.
